This is Abundant Life's first effort in ministry stateside. This special ministry reaches out to troubled students who need the Lord. This ministry reaches out to students who are in In-School Suspension Program at the 2100+ student campus of Longview Senior High School. Herb Spady is one of the teachers of 150-200 students in this special program. Spady has developed an after school ministry time with these students. Spady shares the following specifics:
Purpose: The primary purpose is to establish a church for the purpose of reaching families in spiritual need. The target group is students in the Longview High School. A concerted effort is being made to reach at-risk students with special after school programs that will minister to their needs. There is also an attempt to reach their whole families through the regular church programs. The primary ministry is that of a church with a secondary ministry targeting students.
Objective: Concentrate on reverence for God, respect for students and adults, and resolution of conflicts.
Strategy: Get students to Christ and then reach their families for Christ.
Motivation: That students may decrease and that Christ be increased, magnified, and glorified in their lives.

Spady has directed, with much success, a similar program with students from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Spady is married to Shandra and they have three children; Siarrah (14), Justinn (9), and Summer (25 and married with one child). Spady is a graduate of Jackson State in Mississippi and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth.
